"Baetsen goes further with Knapen Trailers"
Marc Peperkamp, manager at Baetsen Garage BV: “It was in 2001 that we bought our first moving floor trailers from Knapen Trailers. These trailers have a great volume of 96m³ at a low tare. We use them to transport sorted and shredded wood, mainly from the Netherlands to Germany. Despite the large 96m³ volume, these vehicles weigh only 37 tonnes loaded. I felt that there was more to be got out of them. I looked for a development partner to come up with some vehicle designs. Trailned, a recognised Knapen Trailers dealer, was the right company. Along with Koen Leenders and the Knapen Trailers engineers we came up with and costed several ideas. A tipping truck with a moving floor trailer was the most favourable. Completely in accordance with German legislation Knapen Trailers was able to create a volume of 40m³ in the truck and 72m³ in the trailer. This means I can transport 16m³ more shredded wood without any problem and we have exactly the optimum total weight of 40 tonnes. On the advice of Koen Leenders I had three 10-tonne axles fitted under the trailer instead of 9-tonne ones. This means I can also transport other loads up to a total weight of 50 tonnes in the Netherlands, which makes me extra-flexible. Now that the economic situation is slowly picking up, I have ordered and bought two combinations to add to our fleet. Our motto ‘Baetsen goes further’ is spot-on here. In this case it applies to Knapen Trailers and Trailned. After all we have been a satisfied customer for years.”
